Nothing really exciting happened today... except this huge storm system that is blasting through central Florida, knocking people's trees over and their power out. (I still have all of my aforementioned items.) Lilly and I were stuck inside pretty much all day which was a huge bummer.

eating lunch on the couch to stay away from windows while the storm raged

Now I'm off to unwind and play either tiny wings or plants vs. zombies. (or both)

Today my lovely Lillian, husband and I went to the Central Florida Zoo. It was pretty cool. (Miley Cyrus show on SNL anyone?)
Here are some pics:

Random Dinosaur

American Alligator

Cheetah (have I ever mentioned how much I love big cats? It's a lot.)

pretty feathers (ugly head)

Super chill Kangaroo

My own little dare devil monkey

my two favorites

On the way home I snapped some ridiculously cute picture of Lilly. She was tired and content from playing at the zoo and had her "Ellie" (lovie elephant blanket) which just added to the extreme cuteness.

girls night

Let me tell you something about my friend Gigi: I am completely confident that we will be great friends for the rest of our lives. We have this amazingly unique relationship. We are really more like sisters. For example, we make plans all the time but constantly cancel on each other because something else comes up. In our friendship it is understood that we will always be friends no matter what. So if she gets invited to a party or I want to go to bed early (did I mention how much more exciting her life is?) we know that there are no hard feelings, no awkward "why doesn't she want to hang out with me" moments, not even apologies. It's a complete confidence in our love for each other and it is a beautiful thing.

Another great thing about Gigi is that she lives in a teeny tiny adorable apartment with a closet sized kitchen. So when she wants to cook she does it at my house. (You may remember her amazing new years meal.) Last night she made us beef stew with collard greens, carrots, onions, squash and potatoes. It is so lovely to catch up with her over a glass of wine and a bowl of home made soup.

What a perfect Thursday night.

Sometimes, while we are sitting at the table, Lilly will randomly say "cheese." Then it is up to me to decipher if she wants to eat cheese or if she wants to say cheese and have her picture taken.

In this case it was to have her picture taken.

hair did

I change my hair.. a lot. So I thought it would be fun to share some photos of my hair through the years.
(They are in no particular order.)

Things that make me smile

tip jars at starbucks. my mom put her change in the "go away" jar.

my lilly's nose after she kissed her daddy's rendition of elmo on the chalkboard.

diy bangs

Things that are cheap or free. sewing machine and cheerio journal on clearance at urban outfitters, coffee mug on clearance at anthropolgie and crochet for the home from my local library.
i am pretty pumped about making one of these for my living room.

Two Things

1.) Lillian and I were enjoying a little play and smoothie time at the park when she dropped the cup and the bottom exploded. My first thought was that we would have to just toss the rest of it but upon looking in my bag for a napkin/tissue/baby wipe (anything to save the rest of the $4 drink!!) I saw the diaper.

2.) Here is a little sneak peak of a project I am currently working on. I am a little obsessed with eye lids right now. That sounds weird, doesn't it?

The Mischief of Lillian Elouise - at the park

Some days Lilly is such a ham. Others she is all furrowed brows and shyness. Today was definitely a ham day. We went to the park and she posed for lots of pictures (which she rarely does) and, of course, I forgot my camera. But, my iPhone saved the day!

Here are some of my favorites:

petting the doggy

high fiveing the little boy

about to fall...

getting to know the little girl with the dogs

feeling more comfortable

trying to climb into the girls lap after falling off the bench

all tuckered out after a fun day

I hope you had a fun day too!
