The Mischief of Lillian Elouise & The Crayon

Last week Ben called me into the bedroom to see what Lillian had done. (Ruh Row.) Upon my arrival she confessed that she had colored on the wall.( Insert stern mama face.) I started to scold her until I saw what she drew. It was two people! Then I started to laugh/cry. I was so proud of her. (Insert confused toddler here.)

Up until this point she had only drawn lines and the occasional circle. I was starting to become concerned (paranoid much?) because I saw other kids her age drawing figures. I eventually put my mom pants back on and told her how I was so proud of her drawings but preferred that she didn't do them on the walls. I started to make her clean it off which she actually enjoyed (fail) so I took the magic eraser from her and did it myself which made her cry (win?).

I am one proud mama... I think.

Honey Badger Mom & LillyPup

Yesterday while at Target Lillian decided that she was going to be a puppy and crawl on the floor THE WHOLE TIME. I started to tell her to get up and walk like a big girl but then I didn't. I decided to take the Honey Badger route. Honey Badger Mom don't care! My kid isn't hurting anyone (besides possibly herself) and yes I did scrub her little hands in the bathroom on the way out. Yes that is my 2 year old crawling on the ground and barking. Go ahead and stare Target patrons! Honey Badger Mom don't even care.

A New Christmas Tradition

Lilly LOVES my nutcrackers. She carries them all over the house, makes them talk to eachother, brushes their teeth and feeds them. In fact, they are "asleep" with her in her room as I type. She has even given them all names. They are (from left to right in the above picture) Mouse, Pirate Santa Clause, Judy and Cracker. (Hilarious, right?!?)

Anyway, Ben came up with a fantastic idea. Pirate Santa is going to be the one visiting us on Christmas eve. Not regular old Santa. And we want to perpetuate this lie (parenting is so weird) somehow but we aren't sure how. We though maybe we could scatter a few parrot feathers on the ground or in the tree or leave the eye patch laying around somewhere... but we are not really sold on an idea yet. So I was hoping I may be able to get some help from you guys. Does anything come to mind when you think of what a Pirate Santa may leave behind when he comes to visit your house? Haha. Possibly the most redic quuestion ever. But seriously! Let me know. We need all the brain power we can to make this awesome.

Thanks friends!

Paint in the tub

Painting in the tub turned out to be one greatest things ever. Lilly loved making the mess. She loved stepping in the paint and say "Ooooh. Slippy." She even loved cleaning off the mess with a sponge. I saw this idea somewhere on pinterest but, of course, didn't pin it so I can't tell you where the idea came from. Oh, well.

ps- we used Crayola washable paints in case you were wondering. ;)

Artsy Fartsy Photos by Lilly

My little photog.

ps- I found this picture on the camera with the rest of this photo set. Apparently while Mommy was out with Mrs. Amy last week Lilly decided she needed to put lotion on her tattoo like Mommy does. ha.

The Mischief of Lillian Elouise - and the hidden corner

Every night before getting into bed Ben and I like to check on Miss Lillian Elouise. A few nights ago we went into her room and found this:

An empty bed.

A seemingly empty room.

Only one place left to look...

Yep. She barricaded herself in the corner of her room and decided to sleep there.
My silly Lilly.

The Mischief of Lillian Elouise and the coffee bag

Ben had the day off yesterday so I got to spend a little time on the computer while Lillian was awake. This is what I heard while I was shut away in the computer room:

Daddy: "Lillian, what are you doing? Oh, no. No no. Lillian that is naughty. Daddy should have been paying more attention."
Me: "What's going on out there?"
Daddy: "Nothing! Don't come out here!"

Well, you know I wasn't going to stay put. When I walked out of the computer room the above picture is what I saw. Lillian had grabbed a bag of coffee off the counter and found a few measuring cups. Then she sat on the floor and scooped the coffee out to play with. LOL! So stinkin' cute.

When I ran back into the computer room to grab my phone. Ben did not want me to take a picture (like that would stop me). I felt like the paparazzi.

I ♥ my family.

Toddler Bed Continued

Earlier this week Lillian Elouise made the transition from crib to toddler bed (you can read the whole story here). I guess I should say she is still making the transition. Nap and bed times are pretty hit and miss right now. Ben and I text about it all day while he's at work and I have started to feel like Capitan Kirk.

Mommy Log Transition Date 043011:
The LBG* has refused, again, to go quietly. After yelling in her native tongue for several minutes she appears unconscious at the entrance of her lair. I must document this, instagram it and send it to her daddy.

This made me want to laugh and cry at the same time. She is so stubborn.

*LBG = little big girl

The Mischief of Lillian Elouise - The Toddler Bed

I had some pretty big blogging goals for today. I had a big post to finish putting together that would kick off a new series but Lilly had big plans too. And although I may not have accomplished mine she sure accomplished hers.

If you are wondering why Miss Lillian Elouise has a big grin on her face and a serious mess in her room let me fill you in. I'll start from the beginning. I tried to put her down a little early for her nap because we were driving a friend to the airport in the afternoon. She talked in her crib for about a half hour which is not unusual before she was quiet and, I assumed, asleep. Ben was in the next room when he heard her door knob jiggling. When he opened the door this is what he found. She had escaped her crib and torn up her room.

Boy oh boy, was I unprepared for this.  Should I or shouldn't I move her to a toddler bed? I immediately jumped onto the internet to get advice. The majority answer was yes for safety reasons so Ben converted it.

Before.
Me getting teary eyed as it was coming apart.
After.

Lilly really liked her new bed until it was time to use it. I didn't want to lock her in her room but I also didn't want to leave her door open so I put some tape over the latch so she could come and go as she pleased without shutting herself out. I also set up a gate at the end of the hallway and closed all the doors in said hallway so she could't get into anything or get out. She cried for about 45 minutes going back and forth from the gate to her bedroom. I hate letting her cry it out but know it's for the best. After she was quiet for a while I went to check on her and she was asleep in her bed with the door almost closed. My little angel is getting so big!

And the mischief continues...
