Cardboard Washing Machine

There is irony in the story I'm about to tell.

Yesterday I had the itch to paint something AND had a card board box laying around from Christmas so I decided to make the girls a washing machine. I got the idea from a post on Apartment Therapy (originally found here) and added some color to match a pink kitchen set recently gifted to us.

I used an xacto knife to cut the hole and acrylic paints and a sharpie to decorate. The paint heart was unintentional and just about made my day. Also- I did end up having to put a little hole in the side of the door so the girls could get it open if it was pushed in too far.

I really love making things out of card board boxes because they last long enough for the kids to enjoy and can be easily tossed when they no longer play with it. Disposable toys are a small house's best friend.

Oh, and the irony- I did this instead of doing my own laundry... which desperately needs to be done.

  1. Hi Sara, that's such a sweet thing to do and not to mention a really cool original idea. I hoped your kids enjoyed this and inspired them to do laundry.

  2. That's so fun! I love the pink.
Enough times of your girls playing with this and they'll be able to do your actual laundry!
